Molecular Taxonomy of Ganoderma cupreum from Southern India Inferred from ITS rDNA Sequences Analysis

چکیده
Ganoderma is a cosmopolitan wood-rot basidiomycete that has been extensively studied for its pathogencity and medicinal properties. Identification of Ganoderma based on macro-microscopic features led to large number of synonyms which resulted in 250 taxonomic names. A Ganoderma species collected from Courtallam, Tamil Nadu was identified as G. cupreum. Phylogenetic analysis inferred from internal transcribed spacer rDNA region resolved the Indian isolate MYC1 as Ganoderma cupreum which clustered with Australian and Asian "cupreum" clade with 85% bootstrap support BS and shared 99% and 98% nucleotide similarity with Malaysian and Australian 'cupreum' respectively. This study represents the first molecular evidence of G. cupreum from Asian origin.

Phylogenetic Relationships of Ganoderma Species Based on Mitochondrial and Nuclear Dna Sequences from Tamil Nadu, India
Phylogenetic relationship of Ganoderma species confining to Tamil Nadu was assessed by three molecular markers viz., internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) 1 and 2, β-tubulin and ATP synthase subunit 6 (atp6). Forty-three isolates representing 11 species of Ganoderma were identified from ITS rDNA sequence data. The nucleotide variations found in the ITS region were suitable for discriminating...
متن کاملDelimitation of some neotropical laccate Ganoderma (Ganodermataceae): molecular phylogeny and morphology.
Ganoderma includes species of great economic and ecological importance, but taxonomists judge the current nomenclatural situation as chaotic and poorly studied in the neotropics. From this perspective, phylogenetic analyses inferred from ribosomal DNA sequences have aided the clarification of the genus status. In this study, 14 specimens of Ganoderma and two of Tomophagus collected in Brazil we...
متن کاملMolecular identification of Ganoderma lucidum from Iran
Medicinal mushroom Ganoderma lucidum has been used in East Asia for centuries in order to prevent and treat a variety of diseases such as hepatitis, immunological disorders and cancers. In fact, this fungus contains a vast source of polysaccharides, proteins and secondary metabolites with anti-tumor and immuno-modulatory properties. Up to now, a variety of drug metabolites extracted from G. luc...
متن کاملMorphology and Phylogeny of Scrippsiella trochoidea (Dinophyceae) a potentially harmful bloom forming species isolated from the sediments of Iran’s south coast
Phytoplankton cells and resting cysts of the species Scrippsiella trochoidea are regular and dominant components of the dinoflagellate flora of coastal marine waters and sediments around the world. This species is a common harmful bloom forming species in coastal waters. In this study, for the first time cyst of S. trochoidea were isolated from the sediments of southeast coast of Iran. Five str...
متن کاملClarification of the Concept of Ganoderma orbiforme with High Morphological Plasticity
Ganoderma has been considered a very difficult genus among the polypores to classify and is currently in a state of taxonomic chaos. In a study of Ganoderma collections including numerous type specimens, we found that six species namely G. cupreum, G. densizonatum, G. limushanense, G. mastoporum, G. orbiforme, G. subtornatum, and records of G. fornicatum from Mainland China and Taiwan are very ...
